Emptiness and relativity

چکیده

1 Relativity and interactivity The Buddhist principle that all is empty is understood by some as the principle that all is relative [Thurman (1993)]. This universal relativity principle is more embracing though less structured than Einstein’s general relativity principle, which still admits many absolutes. It is worth considering seriously. A philosophical argument for a universal relativity could be a useful guide for future physics. The major changes in physics in this century have been extensions

The Meaning of Emptiness and Its Role in Islamic Architecture (Case Study: Historical Houses of Yazd)

In this study emptiness is considered as a transcendental and effective concept that appears in the form and content of things. What is seen as internally present in an entity is existent in the first instance because of the external presence of its opposite. The entity and its opposite are intertwined through the principle of inverse correspondence, a higher level of accord that emerges from t...

Non-representational Language in Mipam’s Re-presentation of Other-emptiness

Buddhist traditions understand emptiness in various ways, and two streams of interpretation, “self-emptiness” (rang stong) and “other-emptiness” (gzhan stong), have emerged in Tibet that help bring into focus the extent to which interpretations diverge.1 In contrast to self-emptiness, other-emptiness does not refer to a phenomenon’s lack of its own essence; it refers to the ultimate reality’s l...

Bulk Viscous Bianchi Type VI0 Cosmological Model in the Self-creation Theory of Gravitation and in the General Theory of Relativity

In the second self-creation theory of gravitation and in the general theory of relativity, Bianchi type VI0 cosmological model in the presence of viscous fluid is studied. An exact solution of the field equations is given by considering the cosmological model yields a constant decelerations parameter q=constant and the coefficients of the metric are taken as A(t)=[c1t+c<su...

Einstein structures on four-dimensional nutral Lie groups

When Einstein was thinking about the theory of general relativity based on the elimination of especial relativity constraints (especially the geometric relationship of space and time), he understood the first limitation of especial relativity is ignoring changes over time. Because in especial relativity, only the curvature of the space was considered. Therefore, tensor calculations should be to...

Other-emptiness in the Jonang School: the Theo-logic of Buddhist Dualism

In this essay I aim to clarify the meaning of other-emptiness in the Jonang (jo nang) tradition of Buddhism of Tibet. I will focus on the writings of Dölpopa (dol po pa shes rab rgyal mtshan) (1292–1361), the renowned forefather of this tradition. Dölpopa famously differentiated two types of emptiness, or two ways of being empty— self-emptiness (rang stong) and other-emptiness (gzhan stong)—and...
